The associate professor in the University of Silesia in Katowice and in the Poznań School of Social Science; since 2006 – the vice-director of the Interdisciplinary Programme in the Humanities and Social Sciences at University of Silesia. The author of one monograph (Kształtowanie się polityki medialnej (Medienpolitik) rządu bońskiego w latach 1949-1989) and of over 50 scholarly publications concerning local media in Poland, the expansion of German capital in European and Polish media, the relationship between politics and mass media, the area of contemporary public relations, media politics and political communication. The co-editor of compiled books about the functioning of mass media in different European countries (Mało znane systemy medialne; Systemy medialne krajów bałkańskich). Since 2004 – the member of the German scholarly association Deutsche Gesellschaft für Publizistik und Kommunikationswissenschaft. He cooperates with many foreign academic centers, in particular with Institut für Kommunikations- und Medienwissenschaft at the Leipzig University (Germany), Institute of Journalism in Salzburg (Austria), Institute of Journalism in the University of Rostov (Russia) and Institute of Journalism in the University of Dortmund (Germany).
