The Board of the Polish Communication Association (PCA) in cooperation with the PCA Forum of Young Media and Communication Scholars invites young and established media and communication researchers for the webinar
Publishing academic books. Best practices and recommendations for media and communication scholars
with editors from the Lexington Books, an imprint of Rowman & Littlefield International
- Nicolette Amstutz, Director of Editorial
and
- Jessica Tepper: Associate Acquisitions Editor for Film, Television, and Media Studies
16th April 2021, 4-5 p.m. CET
The presentation will discuss many of the crucial aspects of academic publishing, including:
- How to approach an acquisitions editor (and what questions to ask)?
- Putting together a book proposal.
- The different types of scholarly books (monographs, revised dissertations, and edited collections).
- The audience you are writing for (and the market your publisher is selling to).
- The peer review process.
- Copyright and permissions.
There will also be time to ask any questions you might have that aren’t covered in the presentation. This will be your opportunity to speak directly with experienced editorial staff. The main goal of this presentation is to demystify the publishing process, making it a less intimidating and more accessible opportunity for scholars to pursue.
The meeting will be moderated by Katarzyna Kopecka-Piech.
