The final of the fourth edition of the PhD Dissertation Awards 2011 Contest took place during the opening ceremony of the international academic conference, organized under the patronage of the Polish Communication Association in Gdańsk on the 14th of September this current year. The main prize for the best dissertation in the field of Media and Social Communication Sciences for the year 2011 was given to Dr. Małgorzata Adamik- Szysiak from Marie Curie- Skłodowska University in Lublin. The winning dissertation, entitled Political TV Advertising in Poland in Years 2005-2010, is distinguished by the originality shown in the presentation of the topic, methodological consistency and richness of thought and remarks based on wide empirical research. The dissertation was written under the academic supervision of Prof. Dr. hab. Iwona Hoffman, Vice- Dean of the Political Sciences Department at the UMCS and a Vice-President of our association, who also received a commemorative prize.
