The Committee on Social Communication and Media Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences

It is with pleasure and satisfaction to inform that the plenary session of the Humanities and Social Sciences division of the Polish Academy of Sciences, held on 26 November 2020, unequivocally adopted a resolution on supporting the PCA proposal to establish a Committee on Social Communication and Media Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The proposal was put forward by prof. dr hab. Iwona Hofman, who has obtained full approval owing to formal arguments as well as the status, scope, and social significance of the discipline of media studies. The further proceedings depend on the Academy’s Presidium. This success (as well as the previous achievements of establishing a new discipline and expanding the classification of scientific disciplines) is a proof of how strong and integrated media circles are. We would like to thank deans of faculties and directors of institutes for their resolutions supporting the project.
